1000-Lb Sisters fans want their show back, but Chris Combs says there is no word on a renewal for season 4 of the TLC series. This seemingly contradicts an update from one of his sisters.
What Chris Combs’ Sister Tammy Slaton Said About 1000-Lb Sisters Season 4
At the end of the last season, Chris Combs loaded Tammy Slaton into a van for a long drive to rehab. She’d been in a bad way and decided she needed help. So, her loyal brother Chris took her, but things went off track in a long season of her downward spiral.
Many viewers were disturbed to see Tammy’s downward spiral play out in season three of the TLC show. While cameras rolled, she drank, vaped, and tore apart her already-fragile health. It got so bad that she had to take a break from taping the series.
In November 2021, she revealed she had a “breakdown” while filming. She said that from July 2021 until the end of August. she lost herself “super bad” and had a breakdown. She said she stopped filming for all of September 2021.
Then, she said that she resumed filming in October to wrap up season 3. If you recall the end of 1000-Lb Sisters last season, Tammy was in a bad way. She wound up in the hospital with multiple issues. She was put into a medically-induced coma, then had a tracheotomy.
By December 2021, Tammy Slaton was in bariatric rehabilitation up in Ohio where she remains as of this writing. Then, on March 10, 2022, she answered a question about Season 4 that had most fans assume it was renewed.
A fan asked when Season 4 was coming out. She said, “we haven’t started filming for season four yet.” Then she added that it would be “quite a while before it airs”. That seemed to confirm that it was coming back, just not yet.
What Amy Slaton Said About Season 4
So, what about the other half of the 1000-Lb Sisters? Amy Slaton had some things to say as well. In February 2022, a month before Tammy’s update, Amy issued something that conflicted with her sister’s statement.
She told The Sun newspaper she hasn’t signed on for another season yet. She said she was waiting to hear from the network about a contract for another season. And it seems Amy’s not so interested in continuing the series.
She said she doesn’t “really want to do another season”. Why? She said taking care of baby Gage Halterman and dealing with her second pregnancy it’s a bit much. However, she said if they “cut down my hours” she’d be able to do it.
During season three, she was caring for baby Gage while also getting her new house ready to move in, and simultaneously filming. Yet Amy Slaton also said that the TLC show plus her YouTube channel is her primary income.
Yet without 1000-Lb Sisters, it’s doubtful her videos would generate a lot of income. So, she might have a financial incentive to continue filming. So, Amy said she hasn’t heard yet. Then, a month later, her older sister spoke in positive terms about a renewal.
What Chris Combs Said About 1000-Lb Sisters — Renewed or Canceled?
So, what did the third most famous sibling say about another season? You know Chris Combs is the title sisters’ half-brother if you’re a regular viewer. And he’s rapidly become a fan favorite and scored more air time.
As the three seasons progressed, viewers saw more of Chris. And he got his own story arc pursuing weight loss surgery himself. In season 3, Chris got the operation, and there was a lot of interest in his weight loss progress.
Production rarely pays ancillary family members. But it looks like Chris had a contract for season 3. He was a significant part of the season, and TLC likely also covered the cost of Chris’ surgery.
There was chatter that Chris Combs might take Tammy’s place as the top co-star of 1000-Lb Sisters. That’s despite Chris not being a sister, nor him and Amy together weighing anywhere close to a half-ton).
Chris made great weight loss progress and Slaton family followers would no doubt like to see him back on-screen. Now, though, Chris cast doubt on whether the show will come back.
This week, Chris Combs answered on whether season 4 was “confirmed”. He said, “it’s not” and he’s not signed “any contract” for it. That seems to contradict his sister’s implication from a few weeks ago that it was a go.
Newsworsldtoday will update when there’s word on 1000-Lb Sisters renewal or cancelation.
