1000-lb Sisters: Amy Slaton Wants a Baby
1000-lb Sisters has Amy Slaton, who is on a weight loss journey with her sister Tammy Slaton. The pair want to live a healthier lifestyle, but for Amy, it’s so much more. She and her husband, Michael Halterman, have wanted a family for a long time but being 400 pounds made it difficult for her to conceive. In the long run, Amy hoped that getting weight loss surgery would help her lose enough weight to be able to have a baby.
She says her dreams of being a mom for a long time were unreachable. She worked hard to lose over 100 pounds so that she could get her life and body back to a healthy place. While dieting and exercise can be hard, she was able to do it. In Season 1 of 1000-lb Sisters, she got the weight loss surgery, and everyone was impressed with her. The only thing is that after the surgery, doctors advise that she waits two years to have a child so her body can completely recover. But life had other plans.
TLC Star Gets Pregnant
1000-lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton was very happy to find out that she was expecting a baby at the start of Season 2. Unfortunately, her doctors were not. While, of course, they were happy she was able to have a baby, now the concern of how her body would process the pregnancy created worry. This put Amy at high risk for pregnancy. If something went wrong, she could lose the baby or die. Not to mention how hard it is to continue a weight loss journey while expecting.
Amy still opted to go ahead and try because being a mom was the most important thing. This led to the 1000-lb Sisters co-star having setbacks in her weight loss because of cravings and multiple trips to the hospital. But in the end, she still managed to stay below 300 pounds and give birth to a healthy baby boy. Now Gage Halterman is happy and a little over a year old. But can this momma handle another?
1000-lb Sisters: No Baby for Amy Slaton
Amy Slaton from 1000-lb Sisters shares that she is still trying to make room for exercise in her new-mom life. She and her sister Tammy Slaton work out together and use exercise bands to get in a good workout. Accidentally Amy snaps herself in the crotch with a band and makes a comment about how she can’t have another baby, it looks like she is really hurt.
Thankfully she makes it clear she was just joking around. Many fans are wondering if Amy is planning on having another child after Gage Halterman. Amy it seems has never given a straight answer. Although she drops hints in the show about how she would love another but has no specific plans.
