If you’ve watched TLC’s Doubling Down With the Derricos or follow the family on social media, you know just how busy they are. Deon and Karen have 14 children and homeschool all of them. In addition, they are occupied with work, and Karen runs her own boutique. Fans don’t know how they do it all, but the proud parents seem to have great systems in place.
Despite having an already full schedule, Deon and Karen are adding another project to their plates.

Karen Derrico unveils a new project & celebrates a fresh start.
On Instagram on Friday, Karen shared a new update with fans. She revealed that her family started a garden over the summer. Though it started out well, unfortunately, it ended up dying. So, they are starting fresh and are pulling out all of the stops to make it happen.
Karen explained to fans, “We enlisted the help of @gardenfarms and added irrigation and the best soil! Now we have started it again.” She noted that they planted cucumbers, collard greens, dill, watermelon, and zucchini. They also planted flowers for the bees and birds.
In her post, she included photos and clips of the garden. Derrick Derrico is very involved and seems to be fascinated by the garden. Karen added, “My little herbalist @derrickdderrico is eager to have some veggies grown and on our table for Thanksgiving!!”

Karen Derrico’s Instagram followers are loving this update. It looks like many can relate to the Derricos’ first garden dying. One fan commented, “I love this! Our garden didn’t survive this year either. So glad y’all are trying again. So excited to see your harvest.” Another one said, “One of the advantages of living in Vegas. Gardening in the fall season!”
