A throwback video by Ben Rathbun on Facebook hints at his 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days storyline with Peru girlfriend Mahogany Roca being fake.

90 Day Fiancé star Ben Rathbun had posted a video on his Facebook which supposedly exposes that his storyline with Mahogany Roca is not real. The 52-year-old Ben fell in love with a 24-year-old woman from Peru over Facebook messages and their faith in God. But even after showing visible red flags that mean she is a potential catfish, Mahogany didn’t manage to change Ben’s perception of her. Mahogany used photos with filters and squeezed $1000 out of Ben as a loan. And when Ben flew to Peru despite Mahogany not wanting to meet him, she ghosted him. While fans are suspicious of Mahogany entirely even though she talks to them on Instagram and FB, Ben said something about his 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days journey which has seemingly shocked them.

After Mahogany stood Ben up at Lima, his next decision was to travel to San Bartolo where she stays with her parents. However, Mahogany has not responded to any of Ben’s calls and texts and even his elaborate story about people dancing on trains. Mahogany’s also given Ben the wrong address to her house. “Fortunately, or unfortunately,” Ben is in love with Mahogany which is making him find out what is happening. However, Mahogany responded to Ben with, “San Bartolo is very distant to Lima,” which he took as a positive sign to finally arrange a date with her at a restaurant called Milonga. Michigan man Ben waited for Mahogany to up for an entire hour and predictably, she ghosted him again.

However, a reason for Mahogany to not show up seems to have been explained by Ben in a Facebook video he’d posted before his 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days debut. YouTuber The Celeb Talk Guy shared the clip in which Ben says, “One of my fitness pictures got posted.. not posted… put into a men’s magazine. From there, a couple of producers got a hold of me and said, ‘Hey, how would you like to be in a reality TV show?’” Now, former pastor Ben adds that he told them, “yeah, maybe.” Ben continued, “I mean, if it’s fun and there’s a free trip involved.” However, Ben also mentions that he told them no by saying, “I’m out. I got kids. They’re gonna see that. I’m not gonna go on an island and be a part of that craziness.” But then, “something else came up and I was like, ‘yeah.’”

The YouTuber questions Ben’s story by noting that to be on 90 Day Fiancé, he would have had to be in a relationship with someone in another country. It’s unlikely anyone would have known that by just seeing Ben in a magazine. In this case, Ben seems to have admitted that 90 Day Fiancé is fake because he was cast by producers instead of him applying to be on the show like any other couple. Yet, in the next half of the video, Ben ends up backtracking to talk about how reality TV has a “lot of realness.” In the clip, Ben admits that he’s sharing a part of his life that’s raw, and “sometimes humiliating and embarrassing and sometimes inspiring” because it’s all him.

Besides, while Ben may not have a glittery acting resume like some of the cast members before him, Ben has certainly been an actor in a 2014 stage musical based on Disney film Tarzan, which suggests he may have been cast on 90 Day Fiancé. Moreover, Ben’s first public comment on Mahogany’s Facebook photo is from June 2021, and she refused to meet him the first time around in August 2021. Ben also started filming around the same time. A month’s time is fairly quick for a show to set up things for filming, which also somehow hints at there being some truth to Ben claiming he was cast for the show.
